THE SELFIE NOTES:
Selfie is short for self portrait.
Class discussion:
-Its also a way of capturing your characteristics in an image shaped by social media
-this can be a photo or art piece of your own face or body.
-photos that evolved from the internet and social media.
-when you take a picture of yourself
-a photo of yourself (usually your face) to express your emotion.
-a picture that someone takes of themselves
-an image of the creator.
we then had two images that we had to analyse one of them in my opinion was very basic and unoriginal it looked to staged where as then second image it looked more realistic and was not staged we then had to do differences and similarities.
DIFFERENCE:
- One is staged and the other is realistic
- Ones a nice place with unrealistic vibes where the other one completely the oppasite
- Different postures
SIMILARITIES:
- Has the creator in them.
- They both involve one person in the image
- both have facial expressions.
Why do artists have self portraits?
class discussion:
They could show their emotion and to show what they look like on camera compared to reallife

What is the selfie?
The selfie is a photograph of the face or body which show the persons emotions and characteristics it can include many types of selfies including the mirror selfie.
The Selfie evolved from social media and general media itself, this way of taking pictures quickly spread
to many people and has now turned into as what we know as a ''TREND" but however it did not start like this
the first selfie taken was by Robert Cornelius in 1839 but however it was a daguerreotype which is a process which gives you positive and negative images.
So why do we take many images?
maybe to capture our emotions or the places we been.
Even back in the old days people started taking selfies so it been around for a long time instead of posting to social media they would walk in front of the camera and take the image and thats why we have many images of our ancestors

Vivan maier
Vivian Maier was very secretive with her work even though she was working as a part time nanny .Vivan Maier used an old film camera to take her images. and she took her images using mirrors. most of her images are in black and white. and she mainly took images of her reflection or shadow. She only ecame famous after her death mainly because she never really promoted her work. When her images were found there was hundreds of them and was first thought of no value but after development images came out more interesting then expected as she was consistent with her work.
Lee friedlander
Lee friedlander used his reflection and and shadows in his images
he is an american photographer and took self portraits of his reflection and shadow
also most of his images where in black and white just like Vivain Maier.
He uses a Lecia 35mm or a Hassleblad Superwide.
He plays with shadows ,angles and framing.
He received notice for he's work since the beginning of his career.

Evaluation
What i think went well with this task is finding locations to actually take the images. i found this easy as i could see many creative places and had many ideas on how and where to take them.
EBI: if i had my face involved more as most of the images

Images I did not like.
EVALUATION:
-The reason why i felt like this image did not work is because reflections are not clear images and i feel like they are very messy as there is more than one person in it also the fact that its very burry and the reflection of the buildings kind of cover my reflection.
And another reason for why i do not like this image is because you can only see my camera in the image and yo cant really see me.

Evaluation:
i feel like this is the better one as the timing that i took this image of my reflection when someone was walking past made it look better in my opinion.
And my reflection is still visible and not very messy.

collages
EVALUATION:
What i think went well was the way i decided to place and and refine my image and the composition of each collage that i made as i found every angle of the same collage I made looked very interesting.
even better if my original images did not come out as blurry from the printer so i had to print it from a smaller size so it was not as blurry. then i had 1 attempt to do it on photoshop and i feel like it turned out pretty well.
I also like the shape of my images.

what i think went well with this task was managing to find objects to obscure my face with but what i found hard was the way i organised my objects for example the images of me with Christmas lights on my face was hard to take as the lights kept falling from my face and make sure it covers my face.

Images that i thought were successful
The reason why i thought these images were successful is because you can really see the techniques we used in place for example reflection and obscuring and shadows.
however i was more influenced by reflection as most of my images consists of reflection.
What went well was the location and looking
even better if there was more reflective objects around.
